He will be coming home today (August 1st). Amy and Chris have learned how to use the feeding tube and are ready to make the trip home.

On an up note, they were treated to one of the most elite rooms at Mass General. Chris had his own nurse, flat screen TV, refrigerator, large spacious room, with everything red mahogany and brand new. This is an area in the hospital that only authorized individuals can even enter. He can now boast that he has stayed in the same place as Senator Ted Kennedy.

And as always please include Amy and Chris in your prayers.

Chris and Amy have had a long week. Much preparation has gone into the decision for Chris to have a procedure done to implant a feeding tube. The surgery will be Thursday. He will have a short stay in the hospital to make sure everything is okay and then he will be on his way home. The feeding tube will not be used right now; it will be put in place for when it is needed in the future.

This month has been exciting and busy for the Stone Family. Christopher traveled to Storyland with Auntie Holly, Uncle Scott, and Lilly. On their return home they made a short stop at Lake Winnipesaukee, to visit the vacationing Thibaudeau’s. Amy and Chris also hosted a Stone Family reunion, where everyone was able to get together and share a great day. Amy was also able to get away with her sisters for an evening of Toby Keith and Trace Adkins. In the upcoming weeks the Stone Family is planning for a trip up to the cabin, to spend some quality time up at Lake Ossipee.

On another note a CNA has been hired 5 days a week from 1 – 6pm. She will offer some much needed support in the hours before Amy gets home from work.
And as always, please include Chris and Amy in your prayers.

Chris and Amy had a nice 4th of July, Amy and Little Christopher came down on the 3rd and attended the carnival and the fireworks and little Christopher could not have enjoyed himself more. They had a quiet July 4th at home with visits from family members throughout the weekend.

Chris recently went to the doctors and got some relatively good news. His breathing capacity has stabilized; it has remained the same from the last visit. Another positive thing was the article in the Warren Times. They featured a story on the Stone Family and the events that will be coming up in September. So everyone should make sure they grab a copy.

Adaptations to their home have recently been completed, making Chris’ living conditions more comfortable. It has also been recommended that Chris no longer stay by himself. The task of setting up a schedule to facilitate this is in the process. If you would like to help out in anyway, please contact us.

As always, the family looks forward to visitors because each day it gets more difficult for Chris to leave the house. Amy and Chris would love to see friends and family whenever they can. So please feel free to visit.

Please always remember to keep the Stone’s in your prayers, as they make their way through these difficult times.

Amy and Chris have just returned from Wyoming. They traveled with Amy’s parents and sisters. They attended the wedding of Amy’s cousin Taylor and his new bride Cassie. Chris was able to reminisce about the time he live out in that area and the many trips he took skiing and hunting. He touched base with the many friends that he had made on past trips. They were able to drive through the Rocky Mountains and see the beauty on their drive back to Denver Colorado. The wedding was a great time and a much-needed get away for Amy and Chris, of course with the exception of the delayed return flight, but in the end it was a successful trip!!

Chris has returned from his hunting trip, where he successfully killed a black bear. The meat will be frozen and the bearskin will be left as a great memory and trophy. Chris and his father had a great time hunting and spending the time together.

This week Hospice Care has been brought in. Hospice care will provide the family with an interdisciplinary team. This team will consist of doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, home health aides, clergy, therapists, and trained volunteers. They will offer support based on their special area of expertise. Together they provide complete care aimed at relieving symptoms and giving social, emotional, and spiritual support.

Amy and Chris are doing well, they are taking one day at a time. He was brought to the hospital were they ran a number of tests to determine the cause. Meningitis was ruled out, along with other causes. Chris remained at the local hospital because there were no available beds at Mass General. He was released on Wednesday afternoon with morphine for the head pain. Chris and his father have made the best of the situation and have left for the planned trip today. They will be hunting for Turkeys!! They will return on Saturday. Amy and Chris will be attending the George Strait concert.

Next week they will be heading to Canada to hunt for Black Bear.

Recent Updates

This spring has brought many changes. Chris and Amy have been adapting their home and their lives to make it more handicap accessible. They have added a chair lift for the inside, a ramp for the front door. An outside chair lift is being constructed to accommodate the customized motorized wheel chair that has been ordered.

The Stone’s have purchased a handicap accessible Caravan to make travel easier and even possible. Chris has been borrowing a motorized wheel chair, while his is being made. This has improved travel around the yard and mobility in the house, making it easier to get things up high and play in the yard with Christopher.

Chris recently made a visit to the ALS clinic in Boston. They concluded that his lung capacity was at 57%, he is still going to Physical therapy twice a week but he is starting to have a very hard time transferring from one location to another. He is starting to loose his upper body strength, the bed was lowered but a hospital bed will be set up soon because he is no longer able to roll from one side to another. On the good side the blood clots are breaking up and the kidney pain is gone.

In the last month, family and friends participated in the ALS walk in Chelsea MA. It was a beautiful day and beautiful location. There was a great deal of money raised for ALS research and living facility.

Now that Amy has taken part in the walk she has set her sights on completing a 5K road race this September. She has been getting up early before work and gradually training. This is proof that anything is possible!!

A CNA has been hired and works with Chris about 5 mornings a week, relieving some of the stress of the Stone Family. A hospital bed has been donated by the Massed family, along with many generous monetary donations in honor of their mother Mrs. Marianne Massed. All of their thoughts, prayers, and generosity have been greatly appreciated.

The next month will be an exciting one for Chris. He will be traveling to Maine and Canada for two hunting with his father. They will spend 2 weeks enjoying the outdoors. At the end of June, Amy and Chris, along with Amy’s family will be traveling to Wyoming to celebrate Amy’s cousin’s wedding.

While Amy continues to work full time and juggle her ever changing life, Little Christopher will be forgoing day care and spending the summer in Warren. Hopefully giving Amy and Chris some much need financial relief and time.

Each day brings new challenges but the Stone Family is adjusting. They recently held a cookout for family and friends. The weather held out, the kids and adults enjoyed the fire, the ribs were delicious, it was a great celebration and much needed party.
